"With the ASTREX Platfrom from Acquirer Systems and their technical backup, we significantly reduced the testing costs and time to market for our new combined contact & contactless issuance project."
Bank of Ireland is one of the two largest commercial banks in the country. It has a large card portfolio and provides a broad range of personal banking services through an extensive banking network.
Against a tight commercial deadline Bank of Ireland wished to be the first to market with a contactless card. The Bank also wanted to migrate its debit card portfolio from a domestic card scheme to VISA Debit. This would allow it to provide a richer debitcard offering including a contactless offering using the EMV dual interface (contact and contactless) standard. This project was also part of a national migration from the incumbent proprietary scheme known as Laser to an open international standard.
Bank of Ireland selected ASTREX, a real-time payment simulation platform from Acquirer Systems. ASTREX provided the Bank with a platform to perform comprehensive product testing in a
full end-to-end simulated live environment.
Using ASTREX, Bank Of Ireland were able to successfully migrate to VISA Debit on time and at a signifcantly reduced testing cost. The project culminated in the commercial launch of Ireland’s first contactless debit card.
